rusty nest

i look at the boats that float on the river
the grass and the cattails lining the shore;
i look at the long legged cranes, rats . . the turtles
and rusted old houses with bird-nested doors . . .

stones

Mistakes in critical thinking occur when information formed of scripted memories is over emphasized;

dissembled recollections, changed for disconcerting data; typically maligned in stressful narratives;
protecting one's dignity at the expense of one's integrity.

(a shallow sea bed of smooth stones; ankle deep)

i often conjure the most beautiful projections of a perfect future with this most imperfect power;

unable to move the dialogue of my fingers in your hand;
remembering only brief excuses for my periodic lapse in authenticity

tribes

If everything went wrong for the assholes
like Darwin said it should
there would only be a single tribe . . .
and we would stop dressing ourselves in uniforms
which everyone agrees only serves
to make our butt look perfect.
